The first and greatest asset you have is the person you see in the mirror. Once you have that person on your side, there is no mountain you cannot climb. There is no battle you cannot win. It kind of tallies with the old African Proverb, which states,
“When there is no enemy within, the enemy outside can do you no harm.”
How so true and powerful this is? We see the parallel in everyday life. That is why the military has an intelligence unit. It is to the intent of finding out the weaknesses of the enemy, and sometimes, also to sell disaffection in their camp.
This is what Sun Tzu notes as the ultimate warrior, one who wins without fighting. He says,
“To win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill.”
Just how so many are defeated every day, this way. They do not as much as show up to even give life a try. Life has defeated them from within, without even lifting a hand, or sounding the battle cry. You don't want to be caught in this crowd.
You don't want your first and possibly only asset to be rendered useless. You don't want any seed of disaffection to take root on the inside of you. You need to gird the loins of your mind so it can answer for you. You need to deal with the excesses and loose ends that exist in your mind and emotion.
As it were, you need to bring them under control. You do this by becoming committed to yourself, your vision, goals, and targets. You don't have to start with big things. You start with the minutest detail of your daily life.
You being faithful with the little prepares and ushers you to be faithful in the bigger things. It is about building the right habits for success. You can do that. You can become that person you can believe and trust in. Yes, you can.
And, remember to never believe a prophecy or word from anyone, regardless of who it might be, that does not empower you. You are bigger and better than that. Let no one steal your only treasure, YOU.
The Saint.
