Ablest Navigator of Life

I Have An Anchor that is Sure

"The winds and the waves are always on the side of the ablest navigators." ― Edward Gibbon

Embrace The Chaos:

Are you an able navigator of life? Are you able to hold your own under any circumstance life throws at you? Or, you are one always seeking the favorable wind? Life is life, there are no guarantees. Our calling is not of controlling life. Our calling is that of holding our own ground and using whatsoever life throws at us as a stepping stone for our own good and enablement towards our set goals and objectives.

Any normal navigator is expected to be able to navigate in good, favorable weather. What differentiates the men from the boys, the professionals from the amateurs, the seasoned from the ordinary is the ability to use even bad, unfavorable weather, and storm. The seasoned navigators do not waste time complaining, nor do they see themselves as victims. Rather, they embrace the chaos, lean into and use it, instead of it using them.

Wisdom from the Gurus:

Maya Angelou tells us about the "Principle of Reverse", whereby we reverse the energy force and form that is seeming to work against us in our favor. That is to say, we overturn the odds against us to work in our favor and enhancement. It is based on the truth nothing happens against us. Everything happens for us. Everything can be used for our good. All we need do is learn the lessons, understanding the things in our life that it is calling attention to, and make the right corrections and growth.

Napoleon Hill teaches us “Every Adversity, Every Failure, Every Heartbreak, Carries With It The Seed Of An Equal Or Greater Benefit.” So, when we have adversity, failure or heartbreak visit us, we refuse to be consumed by it. Rather our eyes are focused on looking for the "equal or greater benefit" in its eye. We rejoice because we know the adversity, failure, and or heartbreak is working for us, not against us.

Viktor E. Frankl lends a word here also. He counsels, "When we are no longer able to change a situation - we are challenged to change ourselves." Wow! There is no use crying over a wall hoping it will become a door. Unfortunately, that is the story of a great many of us. We stay wishing the wall will someday, somehow by some strange element of luck or touch of magic become a door. How so unfortunate, and pitiful. No wonder empty heads take us for a ride in the name of the mysterious.

Helen Keller joins her voice here. She says, "When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us."

Living it:

I was at the pharmacy last week, and my dear sister and friend, Tosin was amazed at how much weight I had put on. So, knowing some challenges I had been through, for which reason, I had hitherto lost weight, she asked if the challenges were off the ground. Tosin was amazed to learn my answers were no, yet I was sure looking like one who just won a jackpot. Why?

IT IS NOT WHAT YOU CARRY OR WEAR THAT MAKES OR KILLS YOU. IT IS THE WAY YOU CARRY OR WEAR IT. Did you understand that or you need me to repeat it, or translate it into you local dialect?

So, please forgive me, for my bluntness, but I really don't care what you are going through today. It is not WHAT you are going through that matters. It is HOW you are going through it that makes all the difference there is and going to be. Stop looking for people to pity you. Stop allowing people to pity you. All is not lost. There is life after your calamity. AND, THAT IS IRRESPECTIVE OF WHAT YOUR CALAMITY IS.

Forgive my bluntness, but it is so very true. See Adversity, Failure, Heartbreak, Calamity, Chaos, etc. from the eyes of the Creator. Step up and gain the right perspective. For, a start whatever happened to you could have been worse. Do you realize that? The fact that you are reading this right now means you still have things left, things to be grateful for. There are those without such privileges.

You owe gratitude to the Creator. He means well for you. There is a "Seed Of An Equal Or Greater Benefit” in your Adversity, Failure, Heartbreak, Calamity, Chaos, etc. Don't miss that seed. I am not asking you not to cry. I am not asking you not to grief. Cry, grief, but don't lose your heart - don't lose your way. Don't build a tabernacle there. Life goes on. Don't let it leave you behind.

You don't have to let your "Adversity, Failure, Heartbreak, Calamity, Chaos, etc" rule you. You can reframe it in a way that empowers you. You can define it the way it ought ot be defined. You can wear it in a way that puts the shine back on you. You can drive it, rather than allowing it to drive you. You can use it, rather than allow it to use you.

Never forget, Life always happens for you. It might not be apparent but stay with it. Keep the faith and all will be made clear in no time. The seed of the equivalent or greater benefit will work in your favor.
