God Wants to Speak With You

I Expect to Hear from God

“The trouble with nearly everybody who prays is that he says ‘Amen’ and runs away before God has a chance to reply. Listening to God is far more important than giving Him our ideas.“ ― Frank Laubach.

You Qualify:

When you pray, do you expect to hear from God? Why not, if not? Do you suppose yourself unqualified to hear from God? Who sold you a bad market? Who sold you such a story? Who has bewitched you? Who is selling God in such a bad light? God wants to talk to you, even you. He does not need you to have a title at all. All you need is having a relationship with Him. [John 10:1-5, 27]

That which brings you into God's presence, crying Abba Father, is all that qualifies you to hear God's voice. He is eager to speak with you. He actually is speaking. The question is you not hearing. He has been speaking. He is speaking. And, He will yet speak. The only question is, are you hearing? Will you hear? God speaking to Samuel is rather instructive. [1 Samuel 3]

God is Eager to Speak with You:

Samuel, not understanding God's voice, did not stop God's attempt to get across to him. Like Samuel, God has been trying to get across to you. He is trying to get across to you. He will keep trying to get across to you. You should expect to hear from God when you pray. He infuses your mind with thoughts, insights, and revelations in the direction of His leading—place value on them.

Yes, God leads in several different ways. For some, He gets across through dreams, open and closed visions, [Number 12:6; Genesis 37:5-11; 1 Kings 3:5-15; 2 Chronicles 1:7-13; Matthew 1:20-21; Acts 2:17] to others, like a man speaks to his friend, [Numbers 12:8; Exodus 3:4-6; Acts 9:3-7] Yet, for some, it is in Circumstances, Coincidences, Creation and Nature [John 5:19; Psalm 19:1], and an Inner witness, [1 Kings 19:9-12, Romans 8:14-16]

God Always Speaks in Alliance with His Word:

The Word [Hebrews 1:1-2; Matthew 6:11; John 6:63] is the melting point and commonest way God leads His people. In fact, irrespective of how else God leads, it must find common ground with the Word. Otherwise, it is not of Him. [Psalm 138:2] The Word of God is settled in Heaven; it does not change. [Psalm 119:89]

God reveals himself so we can have faith in Him. He reveals His purpose so we can know what He is about to do. And, His Ways to show us how He accomplishes His purposes. Henry Blackaby reminds us, "A truth that is evident throughout the Bible is that God speaks to His people. When He speaks, those He speaks to know He is the one speaking, and they understand what He is saying."

The Acuity of Hearing is in Proportion to the Veracity of Relationship:

"The key to hearing and knowing God's voice is not a formula or a key you can follow." (Henry Blackaby) It is all wrapped up in the verity and power of our relationship with Him. The onus is on each of us to devote time and effort to cultivate our love relationship with God if we want to know His will and voice. [John 5:20, 10:14-16]

We can hear from God. He wants us to hear from Him, and He is continuously speaking. Whether we do hear from Him or not is never a block from His side. If we don't hear from God, we need to make the adjustments, not God. We need to check on our relationship and ensure nothing is standing in our way of hearing from God.
