I guess this is one of the things they need to teach in the Course 101 of Life, at least in the marketplace, for a whole lot of us, ignorantly stupid ones. Passion sure is not everything, in the game of life. It is something, but not everything. The way your passion is being perceived goes a long way to place it as either an asset or a liability.
Again, may be this is more so for we the introverts and perfectionist. We seem to live in a world of our own, a cocoon, that makes us oblivious of how we rub off on others, especially the ones who determine our fate, promotion, exaltation, breakthroughs, and or chance. Yes, promotion comes from God, but He uses people. And, we can do a lot to make the promotion come easier, quicker, and smoother.
Plagued with my three (3) headed demon - Passion, Perfectionism, and Introvertedness (may be I should add intelligence to the mix) - I often tend to be competitive in any venture I enter into. I aim to be the best at what I do. This is good in itself, but ought to be done with skill, sense, and decorum, respecting how it rubs off on others especially, the bosses (masters) in the field. You must not forget to lead up, lest your helpers become your limiters.
And, sometimes, it is not intentional. They are only just being human. Your duty is to help their humanity just as you desire to grow and actualize. Let your good not be evil spoken of or perceived, especially by the people above you. This is not necessarily an easy act, especially for the passionate and emotional, but sure a requirement for climbing up the ladder, bubbling up to differentiate yourself from the crowd.
I'll save y'all my war stories, but I sure have been burned many times, and with the benefit of hindsight will make bold to say I could have done better. I could have been more discrete. I could have better managed my emotions. I could have been more strategic. I did not have to allow my emotions have the better of me. I could have been better self-controlled.
Life is won by extreme ownership of every space you find yourself. You dictate the emotions you exhibit and receive in return by sowing the right seeds.
