The Power of Dreams (Part Ten): The Power of Vision.

The Picture I See is a Wow!
And the Lord said, Behold, they are one people and they have all one language; and this is only the beginning of what they will do, and now nothing they have imagined they can do will be impossible for them. (Genesis 11:6, AMP)
DAVID, A MAN OF VISION:

Our fifth example is David, a man after God’s own heart. Ever wondered why God anointed him king way ahead of his actual coronation? Ever wondered what kind of thoughts and dreams the anointing awakened in him? [1 Samuel 16:1-13] And, what about you and me? We have been made kings and priests unto our God, to reign on the earth. [Revelations 1:6, 5:10; Romans 5:17] Just like David, we are anointed.
"Reach high, for stars lie hidden in your soul. Dream deep, for every dream, precedes the goal." — Pamela Vaull Starr.
Christ, the anointed one and His anointing, lives (resident) on the inside of us. [Colossians 1:27] The Lord our God is with us, and the shout of a king is among us. [Numbers 23:31] What kind of person ought we then to be? What kind of dreams should this awaken in us? Any less than David, or even much more? David's anointing awakened enough fight in him to defeat Goliath.
"It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog." — Mark Twain.
He sets for us an example to follow as we face our own Goliath each day. We are not to hide away like mere men, who have no hope. We are not to be hidden away amongst the crowd. [1 Samuel 17:11] Our Goliath (challenges, shortcomings, etc.) come to reveal us. They come to exalt us. They come to stir us in the path of our destiny. Our place is to stand, and standing tall, we will.

A PRICE TO LONG FOR:

The anointing and the promises of God made David a dreamer - a dreamer of big dreams. It increased the fight in him for bigger and better things. Note his question on the reward. [1 Samuel 17:26] He did not go after Goliath for fighting sake. His eyes were on the price. He did not only have sight. He had a vision. (As Jonathan Swift puts it, "Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others.")
"Imagination is the key to motivation." — Rene Descartes.
David had a vision for big things. He had a vision for greatness. What Goliaths' are standing tall in your life that needs your standing up to? What "uncircumcised Philistine" is taunting and defiling the name of your God? What are you waiting for? Are you going to stand tall like David, trusting God and His Word, or join the crowd, oblivious of that which you have?

There is the shout of the King among us. There is a shout of the king inside of you. Let it not go to naught. Let it roar. We are too blessed to see our self as small. We are too endowed to hide away. David did not. He understood the covenant. He understood the hand of God over his life. Why should we do otherwise? His dreams made him a lot bigger than his physique portended him to be.

He knew providence was on his side. His part was activating it with his dreams and actions in line with the same. His dreams flooded his mind with ideas on how to accomplish his desired end. He had a WHY (God’s mandate). His WHY birth the WHAT and HOW in bringing about the WHY. His WHY was the fight (strength, motivation) in him that overcame his Goliath.
"Opposition is not only evidence that God is blessing, but it is also an opportunity for us to grow."— Warren W. Wiersbe.
William Hutchison Murray puts it this way,
“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”
Are you committed? Are you intentional about your living? Why not, if not?
