Believers' Prayer Meeting with The Saint | R 17 W 1 D 5.

Welcome to The Upper Room. So glad to have you join us.

We continue with our meditations in The Book of Daniel, as we continue to dig deeper into verse 13 of Chapter 10. It reads,

"But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia."

How so much we have created a god in our own image, rather than bowing to Jehovah. His word paints Him so vividly clear, but we would not have any of that. We want a god we can control, a god we can manipulate, and a god we can use. That is not Jehovah. That is our own image.

“You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments." (Exodus 20:4-6)

What do we turn around to do? The very same thing He has asked us not to do. Yes, we might not carve him out in physical structures, even though some do, but we carve him out in our minds. We fit Him into our own boxes. We limit Him to that which we can understand. We rob Him of His awesomeness.

Why? All because we want to worship our own self. I love the way Evelyn Underhill puts it. She said, “If God were small enough to be understood, He would not be big enough to be worshipped.” We seek to worship our own self, but God seeks that we worship Him, and will stop at nothing to ensure that.

He will break our boxes and any and everything else we put out to limit Him. "For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea." (Habakkuk 2:14) God is all about His glory and He will not play it second to any other thing.

We are either going to get with the program or fall off. In Isaiah 40:10-31, we see Isaiah extolling Him. We join in with Don Moen and sing (say),

"I have made You too small in my eyes
O Lord, forgive me
I have believed in a lie
That You were unable to help me
But now, O Lord, I see my wrong

Heal my heart and show Yourself strong
And in my eyes and with my song
O Lord, be magnified
O Lord, be magnified"

Let's pray.

The Saint.
