Welcome to The Upper Room. So glad to have you join us.
We continue with our meditations in The Book of Daniel, as we continue to dig deeper into verse 13 of Chapter 10. It reads,
"But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia."
Knowing we need help in this wise, God came to empower us. "Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage." (Hebrews 2:14-15)
"Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage." (Galatians 5:1) Might I say that again, and again? STAND FAST! For the fun of it and extra learning, let us look at how this is phrased in different versions of scripture.
Contemporary English Version: Hold On.
Easy to Read Version: Stand Strong.
God's Word Translation: Be Firm.
J.B. New Testament: Plant your feet firmly.
The Living Bible: Make Sure.
Message Bible: So take your stand!
New International Reader's Version: Remain Strong.
New Life Version: Stay that way.
All these imply opposition. There will be no need to be conscious of standing if there is nothing trying to make us otherwise. God is in essence telling us we have a part to play in our victory. It is not going to happen by chance. Yes, it is good warfare, but it must be fought.
Let's pray.
The Saint.
