Welcome to The Upper Room. Welcome to the second day of our Third (3rd) Year on this journey. So glad you came.
We continue with our meditations in The Book of Daniel, as we lead ourselves into The Throne Room. We are presently in Chapter Nine of the Book. We are on the topic: "Hearing God: My Responsibility."
As we emphasized, Hearing God is not God's responsibility. It is ours. God is always speaking. Whether we hear Him or not has nothing to do with Him. It has everything to do with us. In 1 Samuel 3:1, a season was recorded as being a time when the word of God was rare. Why was that?
The existing High Priest, Eli, was dull of hearing. He was not seeking after God's word. He was rather expecting God to make the first move, whereas God was always waiting on him. He had been defeated by life, represented by his children.
Eli treasured his children more than the word of God. And, God will never play second fiddle, to anything or person. God will either be first or nothing in our life. If we don't choose him first, we are as good as not choosing Him at all.
You want to hear from God? Then you must treasure His word above all. Don't forget that was what God want to show the Israelites by taking them through the wilderness. He wanted to show them we cannot live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
God's word is our necessary food for survival, nourishment and empowerment. Until we see and treasure it as such we will not hear His voice.
Let's pray.
The Saint.
