Welcome to the Upper Room. So glad to be back. I love being. 'Tis my stay.
Here is wishing you a very Happy New Year. The word of God on my heart for this New Year is a "Year of No Excuses." What does that mean? I don't really know, but one thing I do know, there will be a whole lot of opportunities for growth and explosion.
Our disposition needs to be that of sensitivity and readiness to harness them. Deal?
We move on to Daniel 6:11. It reads,
"Then these men assembled and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God."
Isn't it instructional what they found Daniel doing? They set out a trap to catch Daniel, which Daniel knew about. Yet that was exactly what they found him doing. Did Daniel have to pray? Could he have delayed praying? Skip praying for a day, two, or the full length they had asked for?
What would you have done in Daniel's stead? Is this not one of the things some would have desired to apply wisdom to? Why not be wise? Some might have alluded. How many practices have we stopped all in a bid to be supposedly tolerant? Really?
And, how much have we gained for the kingdom doing the same? Yes, there is a whole lot of religiosity in our church today. Fats we can obviously cut off so we can focus on the essential few. These are the things that increase spirituality and intimacy/fellowship with the Godhead.
Rather, many are increasing the fats and cutting down on the critical few. May this not be your case, especially as we start a New Year. My prayer for you is that your heart will find the one thing that matters, like Mary, and never let go of it.
Let's pray.
The Saint.
