Welcome to the Upper Room. So glad you came.
We continue our meditations in "The Book of Daniel" as we lead ourselves into "The Throne Room."
I love Daniel 6:10. I can teach on it for a whole year. It reads,
"Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days."
Daniel was well cognizant of the orchestration against him. He was not ignorant of the schemes against him. So, whatever it is that he does next was not done out of ignorance, but out of full knowledge of the impact of his action. He was acting, not responding.
He was acting out of maturity, not zeal without knowledge or hallucinations. With eyes wide open, his decision was to be undeterred by the orchestrations against him. Would you suppose that is what Jesus meant when he asked us to be as wise as the serpent, but as gentle as the dove?
I am going through a similar orchestration at work. I am having to work with a certain individual who seems to want to prove he is wise. Fortunately for both of us, I am more mature and want to build on that. My old self would have handled it headlong, but that truly is not the wise track.
In the past I have gotten the result I sought by going headlong, but not without smelling of the dirt myself. That is the difference. There are several ways to skin the cat, amongst which is the God way. As an ambassador, I need to be cognizant of the kingdom I represent.
So, the call is to be wise as the serpent, without losing who I am. That is a good success, not just success. Don't you think?
Let's pray.
The Saint.
