Welcome to the Upper Room. So glad you made it.
We continue digging in Daniel 6:3, "An Excellent Spirit." Here, we take a second dig at Abraham. Genesis 12:4 catches my attention. It reads, "So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran."
Note, it reads "...Lot went with him." Lot was not a child. He was a full-grown man. He was not forced to go with Abram. He went with him as a matter of his own decision, his own will. He saw himself in the word of God to Abraham, just like he, Abraham, and Sarah had seen themselves in the word to Terah.
What will make such, but that they had a connection, a relationship, not a sheer acquaintance? Abraham could easily enter into the word which was originally for Terah because of the connection he had with Terah. Here we see Lot walking in the same.
More like that which we see in Ruth and Naomi. Ruth could easily have returned to her own people, more like her sister-in-law, but she didn't. Why? There was a connection. There was a relationship. She had essentially connected herself with Naomi, and God rewarded it.
How many of us abort destinies just because our hearts have not found their home? How many of us are so quick to escape from responsibilities of relationship? We only stay for as long as we are benefited, we do not have the heart to endure the hard times.
The reward of a relationship is not for everyone. It is only for those who stick through the thick and the thin. One with an excellent spirit is not too fast to bail out. One with an excellent spirit understands the weightiness commitment carries, and stays through the good and the bad times.
Do you have an excellent spirit? Are you dependable? Do you have a heart for commitment? Or, are you light?
Let us pray.
The Saint.
