Welcome to the Upper Room. So glad you came.
We continue digging into Daniel 6:3. This takes us to Genesis 11 where we are introduced to Abram (Abraham). Funny, but it took that number of Chapters to get over Noah to the next Patriarch. But here is where we find the next one after Noah.
Actually, Abraham's father would have made the cut, but not much is said of him. One thing we know, he heard the voice of God and he obeyed. How he heard is not told to us, but we know that his mission to move from "Ur of the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan" was ordained by God.
We see the truthfulness of the word to Terah in the word to Abram. God came to Abram to finish that which his father Terah started. The question is, why did Terah settle in Haran and not complete that which he started?
It is not clear in scripture why, but we can guess from our own experience of life. Why do people get sidetracked from the original vision and mission they started with? Why did Asa, Solomon, and Uzziah start well, but not end well?
Jesus gives us an idea in John 15, just as the Father does in Joshua 1. We can do nothing without Christ, the anointed one, the word of the Father. Our strength and abilities are all found in the place of fellowship and communion.
Starting is not the end of the matter finishing is much more important than starting. One with an excellent spirit is focused on finishing well and strong. Anyone can start. It takes one with an excellent spirit to finish, and truly finish well and strong.
Let us pray.
The Saint.
