Believers' Prayer Meeting with The Saint | R 12 W 5 D 5.

Welcome to the Upper Room. So glad you made it.

We continue our meditation in Daniel 6:3. When you hear the words "an excellent spirit," what picture(s) come to mind for you? Any other example(s) in scripture? Do you remember Abel? What do you suppose differentiated him from Cain? Why did God receive his sacrifice and rejected that of Cain?

What about Enoch? What do you suppose changed in his life? Why did it bring him to a place where God felt the world was not worthy of him, such that God had to take him away? What of Abraham? What of Noah? Which spirit was in Noah, such that God chose him above all else?

Who was Abraham? What marked out his life? Will you choose Abraham? Will he make your pick on your team? Why and, possibly, why not? All these and more found their way in the Chapter of Faith, Hebrews 11. Could there be a connection between faith and "the spirit of excellence?" Can one be without the other?

The very foundation of who Daniel was had to do with his unshaken faith in, and dedication to God. You could not separate the two. His faith set him along a definite and uncompromisable path. His eyes were set like a flint on what needed to be done, and what needed to be avoided.

His excellent spirit was the result of his dedication and faith. It was not mere nature, it was nurtured. It was not an accident, it was an outcome of active participation in the issues of life. Are you active in the issues of your life?

Let's pray.

The Saint.
