Welcome to the Upper Room. So glad you came.
You do know there is a technology to making wealth and being happy. Right? I know we do jokingly say there is none, but there is. There is a road that leads to wealth and all the desirable and good things of life. If not, them everyone will have them.
Not every one gets to have the good things of life, only because they rewards, outcomes. The foolish are ignorant of this. So they eagerly join the rat race chasing after that which has eluded the ones they follow. Yet they suppose their own chances better, or themselves different. O what a deftness in stupidity.
The good and desirable things of life are outcomes and rewards. They are not gotten by seeking after them. They are gotten by seeking the things which produces them. Money is not gotten by seeking after money. Money is gotten by seeking after the things which produce money.
Proverbs 23:5 (NKJV) tells us, "Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away like an eagle toward heaven." That is what happen when you seek money, wealth, happiness, joy, fame, etc. directly.
Money and fame are shy. They need to be cuddled, and foreplayed with. They need to test you, if you can handle them, before they can fall into your hands. That is assuming you pass the test. That is why Jesus tells us to seek FIRST the kingdom of God and His righteousness. [Matthew 6:33]
It is the kingdom and righteousness that produces wealth, happiness, fame, and their counterparts. Not the reverse. You are not going to be happy by chasing happiness. Happiness comes by doing the things which produces happiness.
Daniel understood this. So, we see in Daniel 5:17, he was not hungry for the king's reward. Being third in line tot he king is obviously desirable. Many will kill for it. Daniel understood only that which God gives, or is obtain via His ordained order, will last. They are the true riches.
